Ward Evil – Hand Forged 1045 Carbon Steel Katana Sword

$129.99

The Ward Evil (却邪) takes its name from the ancient Chinese belief that a well-forged blade can drive away malevolent spirits. This full-size katana features a 72cm blade of 1045 carbon steel, hand-forged in Longquan using the shinogi-zukuri geometry that has defined Japanese swords for centuries. The 1045 steel delivers a balanced combination of toughness and edge retention, hardened through furnace tempering with constant-temperature tempering for consistent results across the entire blade.

The alloy tsuba and fittings are paired with a cotton ito wrap that provides a secure grip during handling. The saya is crafted from solid wood with a piano lacquer finish — a deep, mirror-like gloss that protects the wood and gives the piece a refined display presence. At 102cm total length and 1,040g in hand, this is a properly weighted katana that balances comfortably at the habaki.

The Ward Evil is built for buyers who want a genuine hand-forged katana at an entry-level price point. The 1045 steel is forgiving enough for practice cutting while maintaining the structural integrity you need from a full-tang blade.
